Castor Oil
Castor oil is very rich in ricinoleic acid, a natural anti-inflammatory fatty acid. It also acts as an antimicrobial, effective against certain species of bacteria and fungi. Vitamin E, also present in castor oil, provides anti-oxidant protection.
Legend has it that this oil has the wonderful power to make beard and hair grow... that's not entirely true. These properties belong more to sandalnut oil, which stimulates the cellular mechanisms of hair growth, and even then, only in places already enjoying active bulbs. On the other hand, castor oil slows down hair loss, while providing volume and shine.
The best is to use it in a mixture with other oils with complementary properties, such as sandalwood, poppy, or jojoba.
