C15-C19 alkane

Alkanes are saturated carbon chains, basically carbon atoms in the shape of a pearl necklace. Concretely, they are used in cosmetics to constitute an oily base and to dissolve fatty compounds, like active ingredients. The C15-C19 alkane (i.e. a mixture of chains of 15 and 19 carbon atoms) is used as a replacement for silicones (not dangerous, but bad for the environment because not biodegradable). It thus brings softness and smoothness to the formula. Of vegetable origin, the C15-C19 alkane is quickly biodegradable, in addition to being completely harmless for human and environmental health!
